The United States Fire Administration
(USFA) will join on October 8th and
9th, with the production crews of WITF
Studios of Harrisburg, PA for a live
broadcast feed of the 2005 National
Fallen Fighters Candlelight and Memorial
services.
As firefighters from around the nation
come together to remember the firefighters
lost in 2004, the firefighters and media
are invited to view this broadcast feed.
"Using the USFA's EENET studios,
and the technical capabilities of the
WITF team, these live events, for the
first time, will be available to all
firefighters throughout the United States,"
said Deputy U.S. Fire Administrator
Charlie Dickinson. "These ceremonies
recognize those that gave their lives
in service to their communities, and
it is indeed a great honor to provide
this opportunity for all of this nation's
firefighters to
witness and participate in these very
important ceremonies. We will never
forget those whom have made these ultimate
sacrifices for their fellow residents."
Fire service members are encouraged
to contact their local community cable
station managers to capture the feed
for broadcast on the local public, governmental
or educational cable channels. The signal
will also be available for subscribers
to Dish Television. Dish Television
users should check their local listings
for broadcast times and details. For
information regarding this broadcast,
contact Sue Downin of the EENET
Studios at 301-447-1073.
According to Ron Siarnicki, Executive
Director, "The National Fallen
Firefighters Foundation invites all
firefighters to work with their local
cable providers and Dish Networks to
join with us to remember the fallen
of 2004. We are so pleased to work with
the USFA, WITF, NATOA and Dish Networks
to continue to include all firefighters
in these ceremonies honoring the fallen,
and in support of the survivors left
behind."
