USPS Employs New Biological Detection System

Texas Fire World
May-June, 2005

The United States Postal Service has made the decision to employ a new biological detection system to aid in the identification of unknown substances. The Prime Alert ® Biodetection System by GenPrime, Inc. allows officials to determine the presence of harmful microbes in foreign substances in less then 10 minutes. The system uses a patent fluorescent detection technology that is helpful to postal workers as well as first responders in knowing whether an unidentified substance is toxic. It is the first field-proven screening test for all bacterial agents of concern identified by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The system is portable and easy to use making it convenient for any situation. Prime Alert® is being employed by state and global government organizations for protection against bioterrorism. For more information contact GenPrime, Inc. at 1-866-624-9855 or visit www.genprime.com.
