Sherman, TX, Seeks New Fire Chief

The City of Sherman, Texas (pop. 36,000) is seeking a new Fire Chief. The Sherman Fire Chief manages and directs the daily operations of the Sherman Fire Department, under general supervision of the City Manager. The department is subject to LGC 143 (State Civil Service).

The Sherman Fire Department is a full service municipal fire department providing fire suppression, fire prevention/public education and emergency medical services, including operation of Advanced Life Support (ALS) units for emergency response and patient transfer. The Fire Department currently has Seventy-Four (74) sworn members and one (1) civilian employee staffing five(5) stations and an annual operating budget of $6.9 million. The salary range for the Fire Chief is $70K to $80K with auto allowance.

Requirements:

Minimum of Bachelors degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Public Administration or related discipline and Intermediate Fire Certification. Ten (10) years paid municipal fire department experience, with a minimum of three (3) years management experience.
