The City of Killeen is accepting applications
for Fire Chief. This position performs
a variety of technical, administrative,
and supervisory work in planning, organizing,
directing and implementing fire prevention,
suppression and emergency medical services
to prevent or minimize the loss of life
and property by fire and emergency medical
conditions. Supervises seven staff members
directly and other department staff,
officers or volunteers through subordinate
officers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelors degree from an accredited
university in fire science, public administration,
business administration, management
or a closely related field, and five
years as a full-time firefighter, three
years of which must have been equivalent
to fire lieutenant or higher, and completion
of the Fire Basic Training Academy or
equivalent. Four years of full-time
experience equivalent to fire lieutenant
or higher may be substituted for degree
requirements. (Must be able to meet
the special requirements of Advanced
Firefighter Certification from the Texas
Commission on Fire Protection), and
meet firefighter requirements as defined
in Texas Local Government Code, Chapter
143. Employee must have a valid Texas
driver's license by date of hire. Upon
hire, must show proof of education.
Education from a postsecondary institution/program
that is used to meet minimum qualifications
must be from an educational institution/program
accredited by an accrediting agency
recognized by the US Secretary of Education.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employee must have Intermediate Firefighter
Certification from the Texas Commission
on Fire Protection Personnel Standards
and Education. Must be able to comply
with city policy relating to the response
time limit from a residence outside
city limits (60-day grace period from
date of employment).
SALARY:
$85,000/year/DOE
